USANA Health Sciences Posts Consistent Growth, Bags New Business Citation

Amidst a growingly competitive global market, health supplement manufacturer USANA Health Sciences consistently sees a strong upward trend in terms of business growth, posting a 23.9 percent year-on-year net sales increase for the second quarter of 2015.
“Our consistent growth is a testament to our high quality products, the financially rewarding experience and loyalty from our associates, and ultimately the credibility and reliability of our business model” says USANA Philippines general manager Aurora “Duday” Gaston. “

This percentage growth translates to USD233.2 million worth of net sales globally, with Philippines being one of the top five contributors to USANA’s global business. The increase in net sales was driven by 40.3 percent growth in the number of active associates and 15.2 percent growth in the number of preferred customers.
Aside from this, USANA Health Sciences was also named to the Utah Business Fast 50 list for the eighth time. The recognition was cited at the Utah Business award ceremony based on its most recent five years of compound revenue growth. Notably, USANA’s fiscal year 2014 marked the company’s 12th consecutive year of record net sales.

“In the end, we need to be discerning, keep an open mind and understand the dynamics behind the business model, which has been injected with a negative stigma – especially in the Philippines,” explains Gaston. “It is necessary to the nature and accomplishments of the company behind the business model before we blindly scrutinize and antagonize it. Accomplishments like these should prove that there is indeed a lucrative future and opportunity in our business model.”

Lighting the Way with GK

Over 3,000 families from the Visayas are set to benefit from a sustainable lighting project ushered by the Gawad Kalinga (GK) and Schneider Electric Philippines.
Almost two years after typhoon Yolanda ravaged the Philippines, the most devastated areas are still far from recovered. One of the main problems faced by the survivors is the darkness when night comes along.

Recently, members of GK attended three separate training in Roxas City in Capiz, Cebu City, and Ormoc City in Leyte on the installation and maintenance of Schneider Electric’s portable off-grid solar lamps. The GK members will then pass on their learning to families and communities in Capiz, Iloilo, Antique, Negros, Leyte, Samar and Bantayan Island—most of whom are survivors of typhoon Yolanda.

The two-lamp solar home system, which is part of Schneider Electric’s Access to Energy catalogue, is designed to for easy installation, energy efficiency, and durability. Each lamp can run for up to 10 hours on a 5 hour / one-day solar charge. It also has a USB port that can charge mobile phones.

“With this lighting solution, GK and Schneider Electric hope to make the lives of the affected families a bit easier, so they can look forward to a future that is sustainable and, quite literally, brighter,” said Schneider Electric Philippines Country President Claude Mazallon.

Schneider Electric and GK signed a memorandum of understanding in early 2015. The two organizations agreed to share their resources and skills to provide the disaster victims access to energy and lighting solutions in aid of their rehabilitation. Among the items under the memorandum was Schneider Electric’s donation of 3,000 units of solar home systems.

The Access to Energy catalogue includes products that are meant to provide energy solutions to the “energy poor” communities, who are still using kerosene, coal, and other harmful and less sustainable energy sources.

Unlikely Intern Mentor

Review: The Intern (Comedy/Drama)

Cast: Robert De Niro, Anne Hathaway

Director: Nancy Meyers

by Edsel Lorete/ http://inslashout.wordpress.com / http://inslashout.blog.com

Robert De Niro did a fantastic job portraying an American senior citizen who finds himself working as an intern for this rising on-line shopping store founded by a workaholic young business woman played subtly by Anne Hathaway in the hit comedy-drama The Intern. While The Intern did sound like a typical Hollywood feel good movie in many sense, De Niro, with Hathaway in the middle, with Nancy Meyer’s firm direction did more to bring sense to a ringing social issue that affect many skilled elderly Americans, what more integrating them back into the digital office space. The Intern, which theatrically played up on the unlikely relationship between a young female entrepreneur and her assigned senior citizen office intern, subtly criticizes American society’s cold practice of displacing skilled people who are old. De Niro personifies that displaced retired American work force. The Intern suggests that even edlerly can still become pro-active participants, not a liability, in a digitally networking office setting. Elderly people, according to film, are the best staff recruit because they are already skilled, experienced, knowledgeable and require less training. Hathaway’s CEO role personifies the cold corporate executive personality against that prospect, a workaholic mother who accidentally finds a mentor in De Niro’s fatherly office presence. It is a building relationship that socially extends to Hathaway’s private life, which The Intern tweak to emphasize how displacing CEO work can become detrimental for young people running a family household with that burdening responsibility. While it may sound unrealistic mending American relationships hit by a stormy third party affair supposedly triggered by success, the film’s intent of placing value more on family, domestic relationships seem more relevant taking than simply engaging a young American couple plotting to submit to a painful divorce. Hathaway, with De Niro in her wing, played that intriguing working part with meaningful intent, something Filipinos can relate to with inspired sense. De Niro and Hathaways’s light screen chemistry works magic to film’s final sequence, enabling the audience to relate more with each character’s staking urban dilemma. The Intern, which seemed like a chapter off shoot of that movie The Devil Wears Prada with Meryl Streep and Hathaway, is a relevant modern day movie that bring sense to issues affecting modern relationships, including social humanity. The Intern works up its staged humor with manners, non of the brading cussing lines, that appeals more to the intellectual soul.
