John Herrera wins Britain’s Top Designer Competition for Epson fabric printed fashion collection *

Epson congratulates John Herrera for his latest win as of Britain’s Top Designer 2017 at London Fashion Week.

The winning collection, a result of the collaboration between John and Epson, is inspired by the Aguila, the protected Great Philippine Eagle.

“We would like to congratulate John on his recent win at Britain’s Top Designer competition. Epson is truly happy to have supported this achievement through digital textile printing. We hope that this inspires more fashion designers to make their vision into a reality,” shared Ed Bonoan, Senior General Manager and Marketing Head, Epson Philippines.

“The feedback from the judges was fantastic – particularly about the incredible quality of the fabric. One said that the eagle designs that I had drawn and printed were so clear and crisp they appeared almost 3D. Digital printing with Epson technology has enabled me to experiment with fabrics and choose the very best for my designs. It’s been a dream of mine – and most designers in fact – to be in control of the whole design process: from producing the fabric design, to choosing the fabric and printing it and creating the finished outfit. Epson has enabled me to realise this dream and I’m not going back now,” said John Herrera.

John’s runway collection was first unveiled in the Philippines last 1 February 2017 for an exclusive show for local journalists, Epson executives, partners, celebrities and several representatives from the fashion industry.

Deep, wide screen selfies debut with premium six inch screen OPPO F3 Plus (SRP P23,990)

In Review: OPPO F3 PLUS Selfie Smartphone
by Edsel Lorete/ http://inslashout.wordpress.com / http://inslashout.blog.com

Taking the number one selling selfie smartphone slot in China and leaping second spot in sales in the Philippines, smartphone manufacturer OPPO unleashed its first (six inches screen) selfie smartphone OPPO F3 Plus sporting deep, wide screen selfie features not yet found in other Android camera phones. Targetting OPPO fan’s demand for a smartphone that “lets them take stunning shots wherever they are, no matter the time of day, theF3 Plus takes its technology design form from the earlier OPPO F1s, which is also detailed for people who loves photography – particularly selfies exposed on social network. What is the catch then? Well, selfie gets the deep, wide effect comon only to DSLRs. Front camera details with 16-megapixel HD shooting camera but with a 120 decgrees angle scope coupled with latest beautify 4.0, which is what keeps all your (selie) images relatively blemish free. A great example is that if you take selfies with it your pimples, scars or dark skin stones relatively disappears on each take. Stephen Cheng, who is marketing person to talk to about the OPPO F3 Plus’ distint shooting features, said selfie includes a secondary camera, and it is relatively independent of the other camera, that is 8mp that carry phone’s signature 12o degree angle that is 105 percent larger than regular 80 percent degree lens field of view. What it does, if you remember the Samsung Note 4 wide camera for selfies, can fit more people without having to use a selfie stick. Closer images shot upfront can be distorted but OPPO erased that stigma adding a 6P lens to avoid that image blur. Another smart feature, although we have seen this pacing with F1s and F1s Plus, OPPO’s expanded facial recognition has the capacity to notify viewers need to switch groufie mode when three people are detected on screen, no need to switch on that level. Bokeh is present but it has been imbedded in auto mode for easy deployment. Depth of background is kept minimal but it is teasing enough for a nice pointing self imaging taken outright. What about the rear camera? OPPO made respectable improvement to rear camera. It partnered with Sony to develop phone’s 16MP relatively landscape intended camera customized with 1/2.8-inch IMX398 sensor for faster focusing speed. It is meant to reduce noise and advance low light performance. It means crisp images despite varying lighting conditions. It is made possible with new imaging technology called DUAL-PDAF, which doubles pixel array area for better camera focus point with 40 percent speed in lesser lighting conditions. Aperture beefs up with large f/1.7 spec for breathtaking images. It means OPPO F3 Plus is fast enough to shoot a special occasion like your kid’s first walk without turn on gaps. Phone’s engine processor is octa core with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM which should avert phone lags even while mulltitasking a handful of apps or widgets competing for attention. Battery is built in but it ups with more powerful 4000mAH. Bigger batteries takes longer charging but OPPO’s VOOC charging not only full charges F3 Plus in one hour, it claims to keep phone evenly cool while plugged in. Slim slot sticks with standard single tray with double Nano sim slots – including shared slot for Micro SD. Fingerprint security design unlocks phone in just 0.2 seconds. It is great for fast calls, emergency. It includes avast based virus scanner for added protection. Like the previous F1s and F1s Plus design, OPPO’s F3 Plus takes the signature elegant metal unibody but get this it comes opulent gold or black variant. Screen gets the latest 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 to resist damage from things like shock, and it is competely scratch proof that you can even pocket device with coins present. The OPPO F3 Plus, which is exclusive to Globe Telecom and pre-sells on shopping site Lazada, retails for a higher pricing point of P23,990 + free Bluetooth and selfie stick on purchase. Medical City: Fighting Colon Cancer with Modern Medicine

by E. Lorete/ http://inslashout.wordpress.com / http://inslashout.blog.com

Colon cancer, yes you heard it right, is one of three top killer diseases that affect or kill Filipinos. It does not pick an age, and the older Filipinos get the more prone humans will be to this curable Cancer. Yes, colon cancer is one type of cancer that can be cured. The Medical City, along with its top of the line medical solutions catering to diseases like Cancer, has declared the full month of March as Colon Cancer Month. The Medical City, in a bid to educate more Filipinos prevent colon cancer through early diagnosis, will bring the campaign against of the root causes of Filipino mortality to the barangay level. The premiere Filipino hospital housing some of the best medical practitioners trained to deal with even the most rare diseases, including Colon Cancer, which affects both male and female when they reach a certain age. Medical procedures, particularly for Filipino patients with a history of Cancer deaths in the family, are suggested to get lab tested for signs of Cancer. Laporoscopy is the normal, and it is non-surgical in design, procedure suggested to proble the colon’s tunnel stretch for lesions, cell growth that may trigger cancer malignancy. While cancer specialists, particularly surgeons, dealing with cancer patients warn any cell growth may not necessarily mean cancerous cell growth the best way to determine or avoid disease is to test cell for cancer cells. It takes about ten years for cancer cells particularly in the colon line to develop malignancy level. People with cancer history in family are requested to undergo laporoscopy every five years, ten years for those without and screened clear of any cell growth in the colon. A camera is inserted into the anus probing colon wall for any sign of cell growth. Detected cell growth is surgically removed through modern medical and non-invasive procedures that deploy modern robotics. In growth cells are tested for malignancy, determining the patient’s actual health condition needing further medical intervention or not. Doctors from The Medical City Cancer ward said there is no specific reason what triggers development of Cancer cells in the colon, but medical experts suggest exposure to different elements the body has endured from things like food, medicine and pollutions can accumulate to trigger Cancer malignancy in due time. Genetics, referring to people with biological line for Cancer, should get tested yearly particularly when a person hits fifty years of age. Medical findings, particularly for Filipino patients, suggest signs of colon cancer infestation within that age for male or female species. The Medical City, given the Filipinos penchant of ignoring getting medically tested, adopted the full month of March as Colon Cancer month. The hospital has set up a gigantic medical exhibit, a huge red colon replica with in-growths attached to show public how that particular cancer can be cured or prevented through early detection. The hospital ruled out medical procedure for colon cancer prevention is relatively affordable compared to undergoing radiation theraphy when cancer is detected already in a progressive state requiring surgery. The Medical City, with the support of the hospital’s top notch cancer specialists and surgeons, is hoping the summer season would be a good time for Filipinos to take more seriously Cancer by having themselves medically tested before Cancer is detected in its lethal level.
