Taiwan Excellence Basketball Camp fuels Pinoy court skills and Taiwanese innovation

Combining the Filipino passion for basketball and the Taiwanese drive for innovation, the first-ever Taiwan Excellence Basketball Camp filled the Mall of Asia Music Hall with an intense 3-on-3 Hoop Challenge, top-notch innovations from Taiwan Excellence, and PBA stars last July 21 – 22, 2018.

A partnership between Taiwan Excellence and legendary PBA star Coach Eric Altamirano, the two-day Camp aimed to promote sportsmanship as it brought together some of the Metro’s most promising basketball players while highlighting the incredible products awarded with the Taiwan Excellence Seal.

“Taiwan Excellence Basketball Camp is an exemplary showcase of excellence from both countries: the fighting spirit of the Filipinos further empowered by the products of Taiwan,” said Alfred Wang, Director of the Economic Division of Taipei Economic and

Cultural Office (TECO).

With its aim of promoting the leading products, Taiwan Excellence shares to the world a variety of truly innovative brands. Initiated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), Taiwan, R.O.C., in 1992, the symbol of Taiwan Excellence is continuously recognized by 102 countries. The symbol of Taiwan Excellence, according to Wang, honors Taiwan’s most innovative products “that provide tremendous value to users worldwide.” Each product has been selected for a specific Taiwan Excellence Award based on their excellence in the following categories: design, quality, marketing, Taiwanese R&D, and manufacturing.

Boasting participation of 192 amateur Pinoy ballers, the Camp put their skills to the test in a rigorous 3-on-3 matches while 3 PBA stars are on the sidelines showing support.

Alongside Coach E of Alaska Aces, local court heroes JC Intal and Doug Kramer of Phoenix Fuel Masters also gave their support to the budding ballers. Also integral to the whole Taiwan Excellence Basketball Camp set up is the Taiwan Excellence Experience Zone which exhibits the top-of-the-line products of Taiwan. With products from tech giant Asus, fitness company Johnson, and bike manufacturer Tern, among others, the Taiwan Excellence Zone got everyone up close and personal with impressive products championed by Taiwan. Wang hopes these superior products from Taiwan will boost the way of life and strengthen the love of Filipinos for basketball and sports in general.

“They did a great job in showcasing the best products that Taiwan can offer. The quality can go head to head with other global brands,” said Christian Ramos, one of the players for the Camp.

Meanwhile, the two celebrity players look forward to using the products themselves. “I am really excited about the bikes from Tern. They make biking and going around the  city a much more fun experience,” said Intal.

As for Kramer, he has his sights on the Paper Shoot, compact digital cameras with cases made out of eco-friendly paper. “I really feel that the whole family will fall in love with it. It is so simple and sophisticated, I know my kids will love using Paper Shoot.” Kramer said.

SM Cyberzone Mobilefest 2018: Best Mobile Gadget Deals

by E. Lorete / http://www.inslashout.wordpress.com / http://www.inslashout.blog.com

Best mobile brands, from Vivo, Huawei, OPPO, Honor, Smart, and JBL, brought the house down in the final leg of the SMCyberzone Mobile Fest 2018. Targetting early Christmas shoppers and millenials looking to trade their current dual core smartphones with trendier dual camera and octa core devices, SM Cyberzone was all ears giving its loyal customers great discounts and freebies. Flocked by techies looking for alternative deals on mobile devices, accessories and data services, telcos like Smart demonstrated their time and attention giving mobile subscribers a dose of their free YouTube mobile offering. It is easy accessing these perks when you trade your older 3G to a faster 4G LTE – for smoother app or software multitasking with your given Android devices. JBL showed off their best crop of hand carried to their more bluetooth connecting theater type surround sound designed waterproof speakers. Samsung was present showcasing their latest devices, which had queries given Samsung’s social media teasing of possible features of the upcoming Samsung Note 9, which is expected to sport a larger battery for lengthier wireless multitasking. Hourly raffles made it more exciting, with mobile brands actually giving away their best showcase for the day. But if you are in to see current crop of octa core Android devices, Vivo, OPPO and Samsung did away with awesome games that allowed visitors to actually sink in their tech interest in software and hardware technologies available for mobile devices. What is striking was how much knowledge exhibitors have become in telling customers of the technical features of the product on sale. Demonstrations followed primarily focusing on changes made on cameraworks and engine functionality and performance. It was no longer the usual stage fanfare that interest shoppers. It was more the features of mobile devices shaping into their interest before actually shopping for devices – regardless of branding. Cherry Mobile showcased their best low end offers with octa core engine features that could match what Samsung, Huawei, OPPO and Vivo had in store. It is these little tech contrasts that allowed shoppers to perfectly make a mindset of what mobile devices fit their needs and their hard earned budget for a brand new mobile device. Check out the show, including the best market discount and deals this Sunday at the SM City North Cyberzone section.

Ogie Alcasid talks about taking indie role, co-producing ‘Kuya Wes’

by Edsel Lorete / http://www.inslashout.wordpress.com / http://www.inslashout.blog.com

Award winning Filipino singer and songwriter Ogie Alcasid was all ears taking the main indie character for the Cinemalaya 2018 selected film Kuya Wes. “I love reading scripts. It is one of the things that holds dear to me, and ‘Kuya Wes’ came across my path one time last year,” recalled Ogie Alcasid, Kuya Wes’s billed character figure. Patterned after such character American actors like Ben Stillers, particularly his Walter Mitty role, Kuya Wes is a feel good psychological movie about love. “And Ogie (Alcacid) was the perfect character to pay Wes, who works in this remittance center who falls in love with a frequenting lady customer played by Ynna Raymundo,” said Alcacid. It is a catch phrase that is particularly familiar with indie films leaning on single theatric roles that we have often seen get rave reviews in past Cinemalaya festivals. Kuya Wes, no less, is in that level. “When I read script I fell in love with story, particularly this middle aged pinoy who falls in love with a beautiful woman,” hinted Alcacid. While that may sound Hollywood cliche, having Alcacid take that rather serious yet fishing comic role was arousing enough to attract audience curiousity. “When I took role, and the news came out on social media, it became trending for film to get the right attention.” But while Ogie was all set, and that includes waving his talent fee for film, ‘Kuya Wes’ did not have financial resources to produce film. “Naku, I thought, how are you going to make this film without a working budget?” Taking it to heart, Ogie found no luck getting funding support from prospect private sector donors. “They were all asking not about Cinemalaya, but taking ‘Kuya Wes’ mainstream.” He turned to fellow artists like Piolo Pascual, who eventually got interested in Kuya Wes. “A few months later I learned Paiolo’s group was reportedly shooting a new movie, but little did I know it was ‘Kuya Wes’.” But Piolo had one condition. “He (Piolo) wanted if we could share producing cost shooting ‘Kuya Wes’. I turned to my wife Regine (Velasquez) is this was feasible.” Regine told Ogie, if he really wanted to do role, to co-produce movie. “That was how it began, and now ‘Kuya Wes’ is an official Cinemalaya 2018 movie selection.” Looking into film’s storyline, ‘Kuya Wes’ reflects many Filipino’s challenging impression of a running depression. Kuya Wes explores that trough Ogie’s momentary experience…falling in love with an unlikely candidate who just happens drop into his sulking life. “Reading through Kuya Wes’s script touched my sensibilities.” Ogie particularly like part when romantic interest takes a beating from colleagues. “I found myself drawn to emotional experience. I can feel Wes there, and it is something more human sensing,” said Alcacid. Ogie Alcasid plays this quiet, yet subtly depressive, remittance teller named Wes. “He (Wes) was living a quiet life when his world gets unexpectedly disrupted after romantically falling for female customer,” said Alcasid. Sailing on ‘Kuya Wes’ sound thumping trailer, which felt more like an excerpt from a Quentino Tarantino movie without erupting violence, was designed to effect on audience fickle minded thinking. But then again Kuya Wes could actually mirror wthat most Filipinos openly neglect about their sailing life failures. ‘Kuya Wes’ is the first indie Cinemalaya 2018 films to provincially screen real time with festival schedule in Legaspi City. Regular theater screening follows exclusively on selected Metro Manila Ayala Mall cinemas.

Tom Cruise leads game changing Mission Impossible sequel with more adrenaline seeding action stunts!

In Review: Mission Impossible: Fallout (Action/ Comedy)
Cast: Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Henry Cavil, Rebecca Fergusson, Alec Baldwin, Sean Harris, Michelle Monogham, and Angela Bassett
Director: Christopher McQuarie

Mission Impossible is no joke shooting! It is action packed, and it certainly demands a life of any actor billed to play lead – Ethan Hunt. Tom Cruise, who bought franchise, and while keeping main billing to himself as MI6 operator Agent Ethan Hunt, has done tremendously every deadly stunt imaginable for the original Bruce Geller TV series. In his middle fifties, Cruise, when you get latest sequel Mission Impossible: Fallout, does not seem to have any problem taking any new feat that could his death. In Fallout, Cruise does a daring air dive parachuting down city of Paris, France. He then gets into a gripping fistfight, along with co-star Henry Cavil, doing something that fits man’s billing in an action capacity. Cavil traded his red cloak to a more human dare, and you have to see Fallout where this venture takes the usually soft talking Clark Kent in Batman V Superman. Cavil, despite his more bad guy sensing character, fills in on Jeremy Renner, who is busy shooting scenes for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War concluding sequel. There is no telling whether Renner will get billed for the next Mission Impossible chapter, but one thing certain Tom Cruise did pick a bunch of character chasing character fo Fallout – giving film a fresher look. Mission Impossible: Fallout, for those who have missed that part with Michelle Monogham, will be thrilled to see character revived in ways ticking fan’s take on Cruise’s more adrenaline driven plotting for the franchise. Having said that will tell you are in for a spinning plotting re-take for this Mission Impossible chapter. It strives to deliver what viewers remember more about Mission Impossible – including its past characters. Now, to enjoy film fully, we suggest watching Mission Impossible Rouge Nation first. Fallout based its adrenalized plotting from where Ethan Hunt ended with the syndicate with Solon Lane’s tricky capture. Lane is not dead, but there is more to this exacting villain erroneously settling with Hunt’s engaged perspective. It is what makes Fallout so much thrilling taking for a weekend action thriller. Tom added so much action layers you can forget the American actor is in his middle fifties. Ving Rhames, despite being the only actor who has appeared with Cruise in all of the Mission Impossible sequels, gets more scene time for this lavishly edited chapter. Mission Impossible Fallout was shot mostly in Paris, London, and East Asia. It is worth noting Cruise added more cameraworks for the ultra exciting chopper scene that seem more like an F16 dog fight for survival. Storyline faithfully resounds with Geller’s acclaimed storyline about an elite squad who does impossible missions outside the CIA or FBI’s core. What strikes the pitching plotting was Christopher McQuarie’s seeding more human soul to Ethan’s impossible feats. It is a break from routine, and it is fair segway to the usually streaming action thrill ending with a frying screen tease. While there is no telling how long Cruise can put up with Mission Impossible’s adrenaline seeding culture, Mission Impossible Fallout defies everything you have seen in previous Mission Impossible movies! And that is where Tom Cruise standsout more than any blockbuster action movies shaping globally from a Hollywood perspective!

More on Vivo X21’s dual rear camera features!

by E Lorete / http://www.inslashout.wordpress.com / http://www.inslashout.blogcom

Think beyond megapixels! That is what I did when I reviewerd the Vivo X21; and I found out that despite its awesonely cool on-screen fingerprint scanner feature, which I find convenient using when multitasking, has more to offer from its publication standard dual cameras – and it is fast enough to clearly capture the most fleeting moments.
Inslashout explains why through this tech feature straight off Vivo’’s turf.

Two is better than one, they said. The same is also true for smartphone cameras. In the past years, dual rear cameras have been all the rage. But global smartphone brand Vivo has been pushing the technology further to enhance every user’s experience.

The Vivo X21 has a 12-megapixel+5MP dual rear camera.
The dual rear camera of Vivo X21 is equipped with Dual Pixel Sensors that come with fast-focusing technology to rival the quality of professional cameras. To be specific, the dual rear camera renders a well-focused image in just 0.03 seconds.
This is achieved because each camera sensor pixel of the X21 is built with two independent photodiodes or light sensors. They capture two sets of image data when a photo is taken. The two sets of data captured by photodiodes from each pixel are matched to get the perfect focus. The result is a seamless experience to every Vivo X21 user who want to capture those fleeting moments in one quick snap. Because nothing can be more frustrating than taking photos of once-in-a-lifetime moments, only for them to come out blurred.

The Dual Pixel Sensors, meanwhile, enable the Vivo X21 to capture depth of field data in every pixel. With two photodiodes, each pixel received greater amount of light to create a better photo. Every shot using Vivo X21’s dual rear camera result high-resolution and clear photos for keeps.

Perfection is an understatement when photos are taken using the Vivo X21.
On top of the Dual Pixel Sensors, the X21’s dual rear camera is also packed with AI technology. Its AI algorithm learns from a large database to detect different scenarios and adjust for the perfect shot. In fact, the X21 can detect and identify 18 tags and 140 scenarios such as portraits, food and plants as it shoots, making it a good smartphone for those who take a lot of photos. It is activated by using Vivo’s AI algorithm based on a large database of almost one million photos. Through this database, the X21 can detect different scenarios and adjust settings such as saturation, sharpness, and brightness.
Its AI Scene Recognition can help them declutter their albums by identifying the classification of each photo. It even goes beyond the night, sports, vibration, or backlit scenarios.

The Vivo X21 also has an AI HDR feature that capture more frames of a wider dynamic range to brighten up dull photos taken in backlight situations. The AI knows how to accurately even out the light of a photo to ensure that the subject is the clearest and most vivid in the frame through its Photo Optimization Cube and P3 camera. With just a single press of the shutter, for instance, Vivo X21’s AI HDR technology allows the cameras to capture more frames of a wider dynamic range. This provides more image options for merging to perfectly light all the parts of the eventual photo to render crisper results.

No more dull photos with Vivo X21.
The Vivo X21 is available for only Php29,999. It is retailed at authorized shops nationwide. The list of participating stores can be found on this link: http://vivoglobal.ph/x21_stores/. #
