Gregorio Del Pilar Exposed!

In Review: Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (Young General) (Biopic Drama/ Action)

by E. Lorete / /

There is little to say how Philippine famed national hero Gregorio Del Pilar, coined by history among the youngest Generals who took arms against American colonials, did so when he lead part of Philippine President Emilio Aguinaldo’s revolution. Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (Young General), the social media feature buzz film biopic of the young revolutionary, offers a glimpse how the young general came into light of the early Philippine revolt’s character. If the film narrative would admit, Gregorio (or Goyo) was the favorite right hand of Aguinaldo. Goyo was presented as this charismatic leader shadowing Aguinaldo’s might – presence that captured women’s eyes. It is a playing tease of storyline for Goyo: Batang General, and one that attracts general viewers cornered by pop mainstream televised dramatics. But Goyo: Batang Heneral goes beyond that TV steretype perspective, and not exactly boasting, but narratively telling one young man’s struggle to bring together two armies – one loyal to Heneral Luna and, of course, those lead by Heneral Aguinaldo. Gregorio Del Pilar came subtly into the picture in Heneral Luna, which marvelled on Luna’s steaming loud personallity. Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral picks up largely from that level, after Aguinaldo had Luna killed “to unify the revolution.” Aguinaldo’s leadership, however strongly teasing the Caviteno was to the American’s political and military stake to rule what was the Philippines rising personality after 300 years Spanish colonial influence, Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral suggested to be weak – to a certain degree filled with indecisive decisions. Gregorio Del Pilar, fronting the military war on Aguinaldo’s task, was portrayed more the bait character to a losing revolution. Gregorio was portrayed more for the young man forced to take up leadership, figuring for a strong character. Paulo Avelino had none of that in character – or even playing child fiddle for a general. That is what made Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral weak in form. Avelino is a great actor, but solidly lacking playing a revolutionary general. Avelino, for lack of a better word, painted a weak character conflicted by growing nationalistic duties. It is comparable to listening to Metallica wrongly switching to Enya. Gregorio was kayumanggi – an Indio to Spaniard’s caste labelling. He was strong, a fighter! Avelino had none of that whatsoever! Goyo’s saving grace was the tirad pass attack, where General Del Pilar took turns defending what is left of the revolution to the last drop of blood. It is a grand production, and it is something pinoy made – certainly worthy of an Academy Award citation.

Upcoming Vivo smartphone hints on fast charging feature

Fast charging will soon be a thrill and swift experience for Vivo smartphones. I find Vivo’s make for its batteries more acceptable because, let us face it, since the dawn of Vivo V3 Max with fast charging the software it adapted NEVER heats up phone while charging…and even while actively talking on phone.

That technology gets better. Here is a teasing hints of another great features coming your way with Vivo…
Vivo is set to re-unleash an innovative feature to aid everyday life. Will it be a feature that allows efficient battery charging to ensure better communication, web browsing, and long-lasting apps usage to keep up with day-to-day tasks?
Battery life and charging time are two of the important features that tech savvy and heavy smartphone users look at when they search for smartphone. What good is a smartphone if it does not have battery anyway?

Vivo’s latest flagship model in the Philippines, the X21, for instance, has non-removable Li-Ion 3400 mAh battery with fast charging. The Vivo NEX was also supported by fast charging but its Li-Ion battery capacity is up to 4,000 mAh.
With a slogan of “daring to pursue true perfection, while continuously creating the surprising”, we can’t wait for what’s next for Vivo.

Global Youth Summit 2018: Effecting Fresh Change through Youth Initiated Development Efforts from their Community to the World

by E Lorete / /

Effective change is everybody’s business! But more effectively, and with timed efficiency, development does make more sense coming from Youth sector. That is the overwhelming theme of the Global Youth Summit 2016. It brings together all of the world’s youth leaders not only to participate, but learn applied best practices Discussion topics, which were specifically selected by leader youth candidates participating in the forum, included the following critical subjects: peace, justice and strong institutions; partnership for such goals; health and well being, affordable and clean energy and, more importantly, gender equality. Leadership highlighted on best leaderhip practices, but worth emphasizing was emphasis on so called “strong man” concept – more importantly its positive and negative emphasis when not managed with sense. Summit did a short but thorough pollitical and economic analysis how strong leadership like Marcos, Noriega and Ghadaffi did lead to a nation’s economic and political fallout at the expense of nation’s people. Another striking point raised on proliferation of HIV/AIDS infection from unsafe sexual contact, drug addiction and through pregnancy. Talks centered on human indifference on said escalating health issue – which includes the Philippines, and how that is contributing to growing statistics on undetected HIV infection. Global Youth Summit 2016, which has made its annual rounds, directly highlights key participation on important political, economic and health issues – among other global issues affecting development efforts – through simple youth intervention or participative examples. Discussions segwayed on successful examples of community based projects ranging from political, educational, health and even economics. It highlighted best practices where youth, in their own meager means and community based, are able to take action through simple methodologies that have already starting out helping for example out-of-school youths become receptive to activities that humbly directly individuals to become community contributors. Made possible by Global Peace Foundation, which actively works with community youth leaders, and SM Cares (which is the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Prime Holdings., Inc) and Mall of Asia ARENA, GYS effectively convened youth leaders to create policy recommedations addressing the five issues of summit and youth entrepreneurship. GYS 2018, given the pro-active concept of digital media dominated by millenials, aims to promote youth engagement that eventually contributes to to the 2030 Development Agenda seeking long term solutions to real life problems and challenges in the 21st Century.

Live X Design: A Millenial’s Perspective of Home Design

What can you do with a sofa, bed or a table? It can mean a flat, but young designers from country’s top designer schools were made to draw out instead what they think should liven up a typical urban household. They were asked to design what they think is a  modern fit for today’s independent multitaskers.
Live X Design, which is this contest for young pinoy designers produced by SM City Sucat Mall in Paranaque, chose a bunch of design students to bring on their best kept designs to life, and using materials offered to homes by SM Malls. It is a welcome exercise of creativity, but Live X Design did more stating what kind of indoor house design mattered to millenial’s taste and executive.

Since its inception in 1967, Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID), which was instrumental in providing design students to join home design home competition, has produced a number design professional, some of which have made a name for themselves. It is what makes Live X Design matters, taking a bunch of household utilities turned into llifestyle household creations that makes your flat more the signature home you have always love to come home after a long day at school, perhaps after office work.

Exhibit aims to transform simple home set ups into fancy, creative and IG-worthy homes. Live X Design contest was judged on four categories: home office, dining, bed and living room. Aside from PSID, Live X Design was made possible by SM Home, SM Hypermarket, Davies Paints and Selected modern home to office design is on exhibit at the atrium of the SM City Sucat Paranaque Mall starting August 24-31, followed by SM City BF Paranaque on Spetember 3-16, and SM City Bicutan on September 21-30.
