OPPO is on with 5G technology! And it has put out first 5G prototype on its Find X smartphones. Inslashout lets you in on the finer details
Striving to be one of the First Manufacturers launching Commercial 5G Smartphones in 2019. While 5G era is fast approaching, OPPO successfully produced a prototype 5G version of its flagship smartphone, Find X, and recently unveiled to the world in Guangzhou, China. At the same time, OPPO also announced its plan of working together with industry partners worldwide to develop a new 5G ecosystem. The Find X 5G Prototype is one of the first of many other 5G products that OPPO will be unveiling to the public this year.
OPPO unveiled the Find X 5G Prototype at the 2018 China Mobile Global Partners Conference held last December in Guangzhou, China.
The OPPO Find X flagship smartphone leads the all-screen trend in the smartphone industry. OPPO officially entered the Western European market with the launch of the Find X enabling the company to reach more consumers in developed countries. The OPPO Find X 5G prototype garnered a lot of attention from visitors at the 2018 China Mobile Global Partners Conference with its engineering sample Snapdragon 855 and X50 5G modem that offers outstanding 5G performance. At the event, OPPO, Qualcomm and Keysight Technologies Inc., a world-leading electronic measurement company, demonstrated 5G data connectivity and applications including browsing, online video replay and video call using the Find X 5G prototype.
Speaking at the conference, Brian Shen, OPPO Global Vice President and President of China Business, said: “We are confident OPPO will be one of the first companies to launch commercial 5G smartphones in 2019.” As a pioneer in the 5G era, OPPO has been working on 5G standards, product R&D and the exploration of applications since early in 2015 and has made a series of leading achievements. In May 2018, OPPO completed the world’s first 5G 3D video call featuring structured light technology and proposed the concept of “Ubiquitous Reality”. OPPO then completed one of the world’s first 5G signaling and data connections on a smartphone that same year in August and became the first company to complete a 5G Internet access test on a smartphone in October. Its latest 5G milestone was on November 30th as OPPO made the world’s first multiparty video call on a smartphone via 5G network.
OPPO has introduced the concept of “5G+”, with a belief that the 5G+ era will be an era where everything is connected and ‘experience is king’. “The smartphone will be at the core of a wide range of smart devices, which will all be connected through the 5G network. To address the areas of ‘smart health’ and ‘smart home’, OPPO has already begun work on several smart devices, exploring the intersection of 5G and cutting-edge technologies, and is collaboratively building a 5G+ innovation ecosystem with the entire industry,” said Shen.
“OPPO will drive the advancement of 5G together with AI, Big data and Cloud Computing (5G + ABC), making smartphones and smart devices true ‘intelligent personal assistants’, said Levin Liu, Head of OPPO Research Institute. “We believe that rich 5G application scenarios and killer 5G applications will emerge in the future, bringing disruptive experiences to users” Liu added.
In building a 5G ecosystem, OPPO will continue deepening its collaboration with Qualcomm, network infrastructure manufacturers, telecom service providers and other supply chain partners. OPPO will work with telecom service providers all over the world to accelerate the commercialization of 5G devices and build a new ecosystem for the 5G industry. OPPO invites the public to stay tuned for more 5G developments updates at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
BDO is doing its share for national development. This initiative with NU will help empower farmers getting right financial literacy for their business. Inslashout details with this inspiring endeavor.
BDO Foundation-NU MOU Signing. Officers of BDO Foundation and National University sign a Memorandum of Understanding to develop simple accounting and bookkeeping modules for farmers, thereby giving them the opportunity to grow their business and, more importantly, improve their financial literacy.
BDO Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of BDO Unibank, Inc. has partnered with the National University (NU) to further bring financial education to Filipino farmers nationwide.
NU, in a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with BDO Foundation, has agreed to develop simple accounting and bookkeeping modules for farmers. NU faculty members will then use these modules to train the farmers in communities to be identified by the Foundation.
“Countless farmers still experience financial hardship partly because they lack financial education. They are skilled in crop production but they are not able to grow their business because they don’t know much about the financial side of farming. They do not know how to budget or differentiate between disposable income and what should be plowed back to production. Because of this, they are always in need of fresh funds and become victims of predatory lending,” BDO Foundation president Mario A. Deriquito said.
“With the help of NU, farmers will learn simple accounting, bookkeeping, and even budgeting and financial planning,” Mr. Deriquito added.
Through this partnership, BDO Foundation hopes to give local farmers the opportunity to grow their business, alleviate themselves from poverty, and most of all improve financial literacy and inclusion in the country.
“This collaboration is meant to further develop the education that we provide our students, as it cuts across not just academics, but also research, and community engagement,” NU president Renato Carlos H. Ermita Jr., for his part, said.
Selected senior students from NU’s College of Business and Accountancy will likewise be involved in the program, as observers during the training, and as researchers, who will monitor the progress of the farmers and the effectiveness of the training.
“We are very excited with this partnership because it does not only allow us to apply our academic theories in the real world; it also helps us develop our students into well-rounded individuals. It teaches them the value of helping their fellow Filipinos,” NU vice president for Academics Rachel Roxas added.
Moving forward, BDO Foundation and NU will also collaborate on other projects such a capacity-building program for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in coordination with BDO subsidiary One Network Bank, a research project to support the Foundation’s financial education for public schools, and other similar initiatives.

Robin Padilla is no stranger to action movies. Padilla, with his sweet talking macho image, has either played a notorious criminal or a man of law. Bato, which is the Regal Films and BenChingko produced action drama billing Robin Padilla, play action figure on the life of controversial Police General Ronald “Bato” De la Rosa. “He (Bato) is a hero. He advocates change in our present Philippine society. He is an ordinary Filipino who has worked hard from poverty to becoming a successful police general,” contends Robin Padilla, who did not think twice playing the infamous police figure. General Bato, since his inception into the police force 30 years ago, was instrumental keeping Davao’s acclaimed law and orderly community setting today. “People, particularly in Davao, respect the police force. Law is observed, and people not only appreciate that reality….they likewise support their police because it is working for their welfare,” said former PNP Chief General Ronald De la Rosa. While that police background rings a bell for the former police chief, Bato paints a different side of Ronald most people least realized about the law enforcer. “Being a policeman is difficult career. You can go crazy for any police who have shot, what more kill a person while in pursuit of criminals,” said De la Rosa. Bato, with De LaRosa’s blessing, explores that police reality. “I cannot forget one hostage situation where, in self defense, and protecting innocent, I was forced to make a kill. It was a very difficult experience for myself that time.” Bato would run out to church to pray, ask for divine resolution. “I value life like any Filipino. Most people do not know that about myself,” said De La Rosa. Growing up generally poor, Ronald earned his monicker Bato from police training experience. “I was among the strongest when I was police training. I could literally run, swim and do military exercise all day. I was labelled Bato by my colleagues, commanding officers because of my resilience in training.” Padilla would emulate that experience in the film biopic looking into De La Rosa’s relentless struggle with poverty – before entering the military. “I worked hard because I did not want my family, particularly my children, to experience poverty like I did throughout much of my young life,” pointed Bato. Ronald De La Rosa’s relentless crusade against criminality may have earned Bato enemies among lawless criminals and including police scalawags. “We have to make change, and that includes removing criminals involved in drugs, and even those in the police force violating law.” While that seem a tough stand for a man in uniform, Bato’s overall weak spot is his wife. “I can understand how tough, responsive Visayan women can be, like General Bato’s wife. She is clear about what she wants, and she gets her way with Bato,” said Beauty Gonzales, who play Bato’s strong willed Visayan wife in the film. While Bato did sound more action in its YouTube teasers, De LaRosa said film aims to impress more on young Filipinos enduring poverty that it is possible to elevate from that struggling life through hard work. “I want people to know they can do better for themselves – even if they are poor. I have done it because I want a better future for my family,” suggested De La Rosa. Bato’s anti-drug crusade continues despite his apparent retirement from police force. “Fight against drugs must relentlessly continue now because the next administration might not be as hard stand against criminality.” While the war against drugs is bloody, De La Rosa, regardless what critics call Bato, was clear about law and saving lives. “I do not want to kill people, but in my work – as a policeman – you sometimes need to defend yourself to protect other people from lawless criminals,” said De La Rosa. Bato, which hit theaters nationwide this week, top bills a stellar cast lead by Robin Padilla, Beauty Gonzales, Alvin Anson, Archie Alemania, Chanel Morales, Efren Reyes, Gardo Verzosa, Gina Alajar, Jess Mendoza, Joko Diaz, Jun Hidalgo, Kiko Estrada, Kiko Matos, Manuel Chua, Marx Topacio, Menggie Cobarrubias, Mon Confiado, Polo Ravales, and Ricky Davao. Bato is directed by acclaimed Filipino/ Cinemalaya filmmaker Adolf Alix, Jr.
