LG Electronics Philippines celebrates the launch of Netflix’s new original Korean drama-thriller ‘Kingdom’

Go beyond with the (TV, Movie or Live Streaming Videos) shows you love through the LG B8 4K OLED TV

Brand new year means new and exciting ways to maximize technology and entertainment to bond with loved ones.
Global electronics and home entertainment giant LG Electronics Philippines and international online streaming pioneer Netflix Philippines once again strengthened its partnership with an exclusive advance screening last January 24, a day before the worldwide premiere of the newest original Korean series – ‘Kingdom’.

Netflix has put together two things to make most binge-worthy stories from South Korea: the thrilling K-drama about ancient Korean monarchy and the threat of an impending zombie apocalypse. Set in Korea’s ancient Joseon Period, “Kingdom” follows the journey of a crown prince sent on a suicide mission to investigate a gruesome plague spreading inside the kingdom — only to find zombies threatening his reign and his people.

On January 25, 2019, Netflix premiered a contagious case of binge-watch fever ‘Kingdom’ and just recently, LG Philippines recently launched its 30th Anniversary TV — the OLED B8 4K TV — and it’s the best way to give justice to the thrill and excitement of “Kingdom” and its mind-blowing cinematic appeal.

More than a hundred media attendees watched the the advance screening with the impressive LG OLED TVs at the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Bonifacio Global City. Guests had a blast as they got to dress up in a traditional Korean Hanbok and posed against the realistic “Kingdom” backdrop and roaming zombies. A traditional Korean feast dinner was served after the Nara Team performed a traditional Korean Fan Dance before the actual viewing.

LG Philippines is also delighted to share this exciting milestone with some of the country’s brightest personalities as brand ambassadors, the ‘Iron Man’ of the Philippine Basketball Association LA Tenorio, actor Gil Cuerva, Bb. Pilipinas 2016 Nicole Cordoves, and Lifestyle, Travel Vlogger Dani Barreto. The event was hosted by TV Host, car and road safety advocate and LG TV Ambassador James Deakin.

This growing partnership between LG Philippines and Netflix Philippines further solidifies the bond between Filipinos and Koreans. 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the friendship between Philippines and South Korea which started when the Philippines became the fifth country to recognize the Republic of Korea in 1949. Since then, the mutually beneficial relationship between the two countries has grown in every aspect: economically, technologically, culturally, and even in military and government support and this latest event is a reminder of the strength and reliability of the flourishing friendship between the two nations.

To honor the two countries’ thriving relationship and strengthen KCC’s mission to “deepen the understanding and appreciation of Korean culture among Filipinos by providing diverse cultural programs and events”, LG Philippines, being a Korean company with principal headquarters in Seoul, South Korea has donated five 55-inch UHD 4K TVs (four 55UK6300 and one 55UK6500) to the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines.

“It is an important celebration of the strong relationship between Korea and the Philippines, which started in 1949. To honor this friendship, we at LG always go beyond the call of duty to provide excellent home entertainment products and appliances to millions of Filipinos who have supported us from the beginning. It is our pleasure to contribute in strengthening the bond between our two countries,” shared LG Philippines Managing Director Mr. Inkwun Heo.

While LG has a number of TVs that are officially recommended by Netflix after passing a series of rigorous tests, the B8 4K OLED TV is one that stands out from the pack. It boasts a list of impressive features, starting with its top-of-the-line 55” 4K Cinema HDR display providing sharp contrast and vibrant colors. The B8 is made to deliver an immersive viewing experience powered by the Smart Brain α7 Intelligent Processor to make sure all TV functions and features are working together for a seamless user experience. Aside from its stunning visuals and cutting edge smart TV technology, LG has equipped the B8 4K OLED TV with a Dolby Atmos® sound system for a true cinematic experience in the comfort of your own home.

Take home the LG B8 OLED TV — the most competitively priced high quality OLED TV in the market today — for P89,991 (cash price). As a gift, every purchase of the LG B8 comes with six (6) free months of Netflix access, so the entire family can enjoy high quality entertainment at home.

TVserye Saludo explores heroism, stories of everyday Filipinos

by E. Lorete / http://www.inslashout.wordpress.com / http://www.inslashout.blog.com

Saludo, the newest primetime evening drama anthology advocating heroism, finally get to see the light of day. Focusing on everyday heroes, including those serving in the police or the military, Saludo premieres with no less than former PNP General Ronald “Bato” De la Rosa. “Saludo seelks to give light to the heroic deeds of our kababayan, ordinary Filipinos like General Ronald “Bato” De la Rosa, who rose from poverty through sheer hardwork and dedication to excel,” said Polo Ravales, who plays the famed General Bato in the opening chronicle of Saludo. Ravales, along with real life policemen joining Saludo’s drama anthology designed weekend series, was excited playing part, and since show did tackle the controversial “Tokhang” program that went viral under Bato’s command. “Hindi kami nagkita ni General Bato, but I studied his ways from footages available – showcasing a true probinsyano who rose from ranks in the police force.” General De la Rosa’s humble beginnings, which is a highlight on Saludo’s pilot episode airng primetime nights on PTV-4 (8pm – 9pm), according to Ravales, “features the little things ordinary people do for the welfare of their families or their communities.” The Philippine National PoLice (PNP), despite sector outcry on reported human rights violations perpetrated among ranks, through Saludo’s concept of showing positive contribution men in uniform have contributed towards peace and order. “Saludo features real policemen, all in active service, playing drama for people to realize good deeds police contribute towards community development. It is a welcome opportunity to show a different side of the policeman, what he or she is doing for the community,” said Police Community Relationshi Group Head PCSupt Rhodel Ordel Sermonia. Saludo’s billing of active policeman reflects a positive portrait of role police take in terms of not only peace and order management but more importantly the PNP’s solid relationship with community. “General Bato in Saludo offers a great example how simple people can make weight performing extraordinary roles that can actually contribute to growth – whether it is family or what more for your community,” said Ravales. “Saludo veers from typical action-thriller that feature policemen. We are also human beings who have their share of life dramas. Saludo strives to tell these life enriching stories with real policeman doing characterization.,” saod PCSupt Sermonia. While the act of saluting is generally reserved for policemen or military, Saludo’s concept aims to generate a positive impression how public can extend respect, if not infuse on other people the power of doing something good for their communities. “It is a drama about people who make it their way helping other people, contributing openly so that other people’s lives will be better someday. General Bato endured that when he was young, and look what came of him leading one time the Philippine Natonal Police force,” points Ravales. Saludo, with the cooperation of the Philippine National Police’s Police Community Relations Group, is working a national campaign offering a different image of the country’s police force with respect to Filipino community needs and aspiration for a law abiding community setting.

London 2020 elections to utilize Smartmatic Tech

Smartmatic, a London-based elections technology provider, together with CGI, an independent Information Technology (IT) solutions firm, will be delivering software and technical infrastructure for the electronic counting of votes in the 2020 London Elections.
Specifically, Smartmatic and CGI developed an e-counting solution that will ensure quick, accurate, transparent, and accountable results.

The technology will be used on three elections taking place on May 2020: the London Mayoralty race, 14 Constituency Assemble members, and 11 London-wide Assemble members. The new system will allow London voters to cast their ballot in-person or via mail.

“The GLA [Greater London Authority] team is looking forward to working with CGI, Smartmatic and partners to deliver an effective and accurate e-count,” said Mary Harpley, Greater London Returning Officer at the GLA.

Smartmatic shared the same excitement in working with the GLA and CGI for the upcoming polls. ““It is truly rewarding to work with Election Administrators that share Smartmatic’s commitment to transparent and accessible elections,” said Antonio Mugica, Chief Executive Officer of Smartmatic. “London elections will employ modern technology that is secure and reliable and will enhance citizens’ trust in the process and strengthen democracy,” he further explained.

Smartmatic technology has processed over 3.7 billion votes in election projects on five continents. Recently, Smartmatic was awarded a contract to assist the Los Angeles County –the largest elections jurisdiction in the United States– in the development, manufacturing and implementation of the County’s new elections system by 2020. Smartmatic also explored using blockchain technology to implement secure “serverless” polls for a referendum in Norway.

What is going on with M Night Shyamalan?

Film: Glass (Mystery/ Comic Thriller)

Cast: Bruce Willis, Samuel Jackson and James McCavoy

Director: M Night Shyamalan

Sixth Sense made a signature creative impression of how movies can shape up with limited casting? M Night Shyamalan was behind that sought after concept, which was particularly insightful for filmmakers coming out of their shadowy cribs. Shyamalan did a few more thrilling sci-fi movies with a sinful comic twist, and while Godly apearing on film – like a witching Hitchcock moment. It was not a bad thing, but that was then. In Unbreakable, which was supposed to be the beginning of a flaming trilogy leaning on the comic character origin concept, Shyamalan stumbled on a perfect formula. But while comic storyline seem fittingly teasing, with no less than two Pulp Fiction actors Bruce Willis and Samuel Jackson billing, the Asian filmmaker seem to have loosen up on the creativity of his signature movie plotting. Is M Night Shyamalan waning out? That was the underlying feeling venturing our minds while watching the supposed concluding chapter of that comic trilogy Glass. He had three exceptional character player on his sleeves, and maybe Shyamalan was star strucked having Willis, Jackson and McCavoy in a single movie production, Glass supposed teasing union of characters did very little to strike excitement. Willis, Jackson and McCavoy were stellar playing their parts. No doubt about that, but Shyamalan’s take was something else entirely. I would not frankly call it dissappointing, maybe lacking depth in ways Glass would have built out its dicing comic premise into one chilling character clashing storyline. That bridging expectation from trailer’s imposing tease. Glass, watching the movie in full, neither lived up to that pulsing introduction. If not for Willis, Jackson and McCavoy’s shaping troubled characterizations the movie would have easily shattered into glass splinters. Split, which starred McCavoy playing a serial killer with a constantly shape shifting personality, was a stunning mystery prospect. It ended with Bruce Willis staking out a branding sequel that gave birth to Glass. M Night Shyamalan wrote Glass from his original storyline. It is not a bad thing, but sadly Glass did little to live out to what could have a grander comic character storyline every comic fan would have loved similarly. Shyamalan is no doubt a big comic follower. But his comic take was possibly overwhelmed excessively with creative task of managing three pitching comic character coming off with a fair play screen billing – all that in a single and foreplaying blockbuster scripted material. Glass is a hit, a blockbuster weekend movie, that poorly ticked a comic fancy off my chest. Pitching all three M Night Shyamalan characters in one movie is what makes Glass impressively worth watching. But I could not extend same interest following on Shyamalan’s lacking grasp of a thrillig storyline that could have gotten a better mystery comic thriller effect instead. Glass if a watchable weekend movie for the comic fan!

On the part of workforce, assessments provide job professionals and hjob seekers with trusted measures of work readiness skills. The skill assessment works like a curriculum that includes the ACT Career Ready 101 and ACT KeyTRain training programs, basically ensuring after taking course students have essential work skills current to employer’s demand for skilled and efficient workers. A triumphant example is the province of Bataan, where ACT, with SFI Group’s assistance deploying project, did efficacy study. It evaluated and showed significant improvements of participant’s foundational workplace skills in applied mathemtics , locating information, and reading for information. Certification provided helped qualify workers for local and international career readiness, which is recognized by prospect industry employers based overseas. Serving as example towards developing nationwide economic initiatives targetting Filipino work force, ACT’s skill testing certification examine key strengths and weaknessses of the workforce in terms of their level of workplae competitiveness based on the 21st Centrury framework. The national project of the SFI and DOLE spught to assess and avaluate the current issues and concerns of the Philippine workforce in terms of employability skills. While local labor study suggested higher-order thinking and socio emotional skills in the contemporary workplace, study indicated for concerned human resource institutions to coordinate for welfare of Filipino workforce. And Epson means business showcasing brand’s latest laser projection technology to its Asian counterparts recently. Inslashout share more insights into this emerging Epson in house technology bound to hit Philippine tech market sooner than you think.
Epson’s laser projectors were creatively deployed in innovative applications at Epson’s Regional Laser Projection Showcase and in a projection mapping performance at Siam Museum on 8 January 2019.

Epson’s Regional Laser Projection Showcase 2019
Epson’s latest laser projectors were showcased in a variety of environments at the showcase, highlighting the creative ways projectors can be deployed to enhance collaboration and improve productivity at work, as well as create new experiences for play.

A fashion designer workshop, a production room, a retail showroom and a staff lounge are some of the showcases that highlighted the versatility and innovation of applications using the interactive and ultra short throw capabilities of the projectors.

In the workshop, a fashion designer is able to easily communicate and receive feedback from the corporate team through the Moverio smart glasses and KDDI Augmented Reality Recognition software remotely. The team is able to give feedback on the designs through annotating on an ultra-wide 177-inch interactive panoramic screen, consisting of two EB-1470Ui projectors via video conferencing.

The production showroom showcases how the designs are printed on an apron. Designers or users are able to work on their design through a customised app on tablets using customised designs and templates, and can view how it looks on an apron through a projection from the LightScene laser projector, before sending to print t line in the region, on the digital textile printer that prints out in minutes. The LightScene projector uses colours and shape filters to mask the projection for a seamless viewing experience.

In the retail showroom, an interactive virtual fitting room utilising an ultra-short throw interactive laser projector enables customers to try on different clothing designs projected on their image before purchasing.

In the staff louge showroom, employees are invited to relax at the bar counter with interactive visual effects, with the EB-L610U laser projector enabling downward tilting installation. Staff can work out on a bike in a health cave with different scene landscapes projected by the sleek LightScene projector. They can also watch the big screen with the EH-LS100 ultra short throw home laser projector which projects up to 100-inches with a throw distance of 26cm.

Through these innovative applications, companies are able to imagine how Epson’s laser projectors can be utilised to improve their workflow and to bring new value to their businesses and end customers.

Projection Mapping on the façade of the Museum of Siam

Utilising two units of Epson’s brightest laser projectors, the EB-L25000U together with the ELPLU05 lenses, the projection mapping on Siam Museum weaves a brilliant visual tapestry of Thai culture, in a stunning outdoor projection display. Designed for installation flexibility, the EB-L25000U delivers 25,000 lumens of colour and white brightness at a contrast ratio of more than 2,500,000:1.

More intelligent smartphones shaping mobile device features in 2019

Most people, particularly on our radio show Tito’s Sa Tanghali (11am (Sunday Primetime), Radyo Pilipinas 2 (918khz), have been repeatedly asking what is in store for mobile device features this Year 2019.

Well, there are plenty of changes expected with inclusion of Artificial Technology, basically making your smartphones even more smarter than you have expected. Inslashout shares a few feature advancement detailed by Argomall, you can expect will make all your smartphone detailing functions more useful either for personal entertianment or, more importantly, for business!

There is nothing inconsequential that is happening in the tech scene, and it’s safe to say that the previous year is a solid testament to that. The year, 2018 brought us new innovations that we didn’t think was possible years ago. While we’re grateful for all the tech boost that the last year brought, 2019 has even more exciting tech news and updates that await every smartphone enthusiast. Filipino online retailer, Argomall.com shares some of their predictions:

Farewell, bezels!

If you’re familiar with the tech-paranoia anthology Black Mirror, chances are you’ve already seen their smartphones which flaunt literally an all-screen display. 2019 might see the same display setup, since the tech scene has seen enough of different types of notches last year.

This year, we’re seeing more smartphone brands following what Chinese smartphone manufacturers Oppo and Vivo did — smartphones with simple, bezel-less, and a real all-screen display.

Eye Catchers

Apart from being excited about smartphones with real all-screen displays this 2019 we can also look forward to seeing foldable screens. This is in addition to the already existing dual display technology. And since more screen means less space to put different hardware, upcoming smartphones will carry face unlock technology and in-display fingerprint unlocking.

Longer stamina

As we’ve mentioned, 2019 will be about bigger screens, which equates to the need for bigger battery capacity. So we expect more smartphones with even larger stamina which can be fueled faster and more efficiently since fast charging technology is also expected to become mainstream this year.

Amazing Connection

Micro-USB connectors will be a thing of the past because with fast-charging technology taking the limelight, USB-C ports and Bluetooth will be the standard for most smartphones. With Apple introducing wireless listening with the iPhone 7, 3.5mm jacks will also become extinct to bring Android users the same music experience.

Stronger internals

Smartphone manufacturers are sure to bring better configurations in terms of the internals. With Android obviously the dominant name for operating systems, smartphone manufacturers will bring more attention to regular android updates. We also expect heightened security to reach consumers since 5G rollout is slated to commence late this year, although this will not yet be a main consideration for purchase.

The battle for the top spot in the smartphone department will benefit consumers even more, since this will mean that more brands are compelled to bring devices that are competitive despite an affordable price. With this, upcoming smartphones tagged at sub-PhP 10,000 are expected to carry an onboard storage of up to 128GB and even more. For the high-end smartphone department, it is very likely that we’ll be seeing smartphones concealing 10GB of RAM, and who knows, by the end of this year, we’ll also be welcoming smartphones running on 12GB of memory. Entry-level and low-end smartphones, on the other hand, are most likely to carry 3GB of RAM out of the box, from the usual 2GB of RAM.

Asian companies will also remain to be the top players in the smartphone market, with Chinese firms bringing more powerful chipsets to the market. However, with even more players entering the competition to remove chipset dependence on Qualcomm, we’re expecting more fast processors sold at lower price points.

Oh Snap!

With smartphone cameras clicking essential breakthroughs every year, we expect the year 2019 to be another year for camera-centric devices. With most manufacturers competing on how many cameras a device can hold, expect more smartphones to carry more than five cameras around second half of 2019.

Your smartphone right at your wrist

Another thing to watch out for this year is the emergence of wearables, particularly smartwatches. While most of these devices were introduced for fitness functions, this year, smartwatches are expected to deliver more, making them extensions of your smartphone. We’re looking forward to see more smartwatches that allow answering calls, quick message and email replies, and basically every simple thing that can be done using smartphones.

Start the year right
